Teas That Can Help Boost Your Metabolism

Did you Know Tea Could Help You Stay Slim?

The summer has come to an end. Now might be a good time to ask – did you manage to keep up all your New Years resolutions? If you’ve stuck with them this far, we’re impressed!

However, if eating healthy, or staying fit was on your list of resolutions you failed to keep, we might be able to help. Sticking to personal goals can be tough, especially as motivation is at an all-time low after the Summer break. Why not treat the start of October as the time to get back on track with your healthy intentions. Think about it – Christmas is coming up. Wouldn’t you rather have more room to eat what you want?

We’ve got some metabolism boosting teas here to help get you started. However, always make sure to accompany them with a healthy diet and exercise to see and feel the best results.

Green Tea

We thought we’d start with everybody’s favourite health tea. Green tea is well known as a superfood, but did you know it also has fat-fighting properties? The fat burning properties of green tea are attributed to the high levels of antioxidative compounds that help increase metabolism. As well as increasing metabolism, green tea is also responsible for improving the liver’s fat burning capacity. Combining green tea with a balanced diet and exercise can help tea drinkers lose up to 2 lbs more than non-tea drinkers.

Rooibos Tea

This tea is an all-natural fat preventative. The polyphenols and flavonoids found in the plant help inhibit the formation of new fat cells, with research suggesting that they can help by up to 22%. Crucially, rooibos tea contains Aspalathin. This compound can reduce stress hormones that trigger hunger and fat storage. Feeling peckish? Just have a mug of rooibos.

White Tea

White tea works in your body four different ways to promote fat burning. Drink this, and the tea will block the formation of new fat cells. All this, while simultaneously boosting lipolysis – your body’s process of burning stored fat. Alongside these two ways white tea promotes fat burning, white tea is also a powerful source of catechins. These rich antioxidants trigger the release of fat from cells and help improve the liver’s ability to turn fat into energy.

Mint Tea

It’s a well-known fact that certain scents increase your hunger. Mint, however, is a scent and flavour that is proven to decrease feelings of hunger and suppress appetite. Drink a cup of mint tea when you’re feeling hungry, and stave off those cravings for unhealthy snacks. Hot drinks can also help you maintain feelings of fullness for longer! Have a cup after your lunch, and beat those afternoon snack urges.

These teas can not help you stay slim on their own. Pair them with a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise. Using your Billi tap at work, make a tea to satisfy your cravings, and kick-start your metabolism. Why not switch from regular Yorkshire tea to one of these on our list and see how you like it? Let us know what you think.
